The Party
I’ve just been watching Charles Bukowski on YouTube and he’s inspired me to try and write a short story. At first I was going to describe one of my many journeys to the peep-shows, but having already had my morning wank, I thought I’d turn my hand to something else. What came to mind was the night I went to a feminist poet’s birthday party. I have a swig of Smokey Bishop, down a few Red Rock Deli potato chips and remember.
It’s a long story but I’ll keep it brief or I’ll bore you, and more importantly me. The sweet chilli and sour cream makes me thirsty, so I take another mouthful of...

THE BOOK OF INSTINCTS
Chapter 1(The Parable of the King & I)
With power similar to lightning and thunder bolts my words take form
Whatever I utter has the power to create or calm down a raging storm
Like Moses parted the red sea I raise my pen towards the gloomy sky
Bright sky appeared; misty clouds of ignorance hovering above all disappeared
From far and wide seekers of knowledge, about my great tales they hear
Following cosmic signs like the three wise men before me they all appear
I speak words with healing power that can make the blind see and deaf hear
Cynics...

The Kidnappee Diary-- Chapter Eight
7 Months Later~
“Wow Vi, we have made a huge break-through this week.” My psychologist says as she turns off her recorder. “I am very proud of you.”
“Thanks” I sigh as I look at the ground in front of me. How could I have forgotten that happened. Is that why Nate hasn’t been around? I place my hand on my belly.
“What are you thinking?” She asks looking at me curiously.
“Why couldn’t I remember any of this?”
“Our minds block out certain memories until we are able to handle them.” We sit in silence for a moment before she speaks again, “So how are you...

The Kidnappee Diary-- Chapter Seven
I wake up in a place that is all too familiar, the sterile smell, the undertone of sadness, the quiet beeping. Why am I here? I’m not sick, or at least I don’t feel sick. I look around slowly and notice the get well cards on the table at the foot of the bed. Why am I here? I can’t remember anything.
“Vi! Oh em Gee! Your awake!” Scarlet yells as she jumps into the bed with me and squeezes me as tight as she can. “How are you feeling?”
“Can’t. Breathe.” I state between unhelpful gasps of air.
“Oopsie, sorry sissy.” she says as she lets go of me. “I’m going to go fetch...

Ruby Tuesday
Looking from his office window Robert watched the old bag lady sit down on a bench in the square below. She unwrapped a sandwich and began slowly to break it into pieces, a piece for herself and a piece for the birds. How kind he thought that someone with so little was willing to share. He thought of how he too always fed them but that was different his mother always packed much more that he could comfortably eat. He watched absently as she finished and rose to leave. It was almost time for his own lunch and he would be sitting on that same bench. He little knew then how this old lady was...

The Kidnappee Diary-- Chapter Six
I lay on the ground crying, my clothes scattered randomly around the room. How could he do that to me? He is dating my sister for crying out loud.
“Vi?” I hear Nate ask. “Vi, what the heck happened in here?” I don’t respond, instead I curl up tighter and hope that Nate goes away. “Vi, talk to me. Please tell me what happened. I can’t help you if you don’t tell me.”
“He hurt me” I mumble as I begin to sob more. “Go away. I feel dirty enough as it is.” When he leaves the room I hear shouting so I cover my ears. After a few minutes I get up slowly and grab my clothes, putting them...

The Kidnappee Diary-- Chapter Five
A few minutes later I hear chains scraping along the ground towards the room. "Do we have to do this? She is going to end up getting free and you know it!" A muffled voice whispers as the chains are dropped on the ground.
"I want her to have some freedom, Josiah. Otherwise she will hate me even more. Remember this is to get her to date me again."
"I don't care if you’re trying to make her the Queen of England! She is going to get free and she is going to get us thrown in jail. Trust me you don't want that, Nate. Jail is not a nice place."

Rabbit Holes
Everything was filled with life. The dogs barked and the joggers were running to the beat of their own music, it was bliss. I was sitting there alone in my favorite park as usual, just watching everyone’s daily lives connect through what seemed like invisible guide lines of destiny. Like a spider web of connected lives.
Then in a blink it all stopped.
The sky grew dark and red and everyone disappeared. Every Frisbee that was thrown was hanging in midair, everything was placid and still. I stood up from my bench and searched the area for any sign that there was human life....

The Kidnappee Diary-- Chapter Four
"Boss she's awake" Someone whispers from the other side of the room. I jump slightly, suddenly realizing I am handcuffed.
"H-Hello" I stutter in a shaky voice "I-is anyone there?" All I hear in response is the pitter patter of a drippy faucet.
"Hello, is anyone there?" I ask again, this time in a much calmer voice.
"Oh, yes we are here" Someone states nonchalantly as I hear the unscrewing of a light bulb. "We have been here the whole time"
"Whole time?" I ask beginning to freak out "How long...
