Poet Introduction

wrote my first poem when I was 12 years old. The release it gave was empowering. I didn't pick up a pen or put thought, feeling or ideas to paper again until my mother passed 7 years ago. Im now 48. Life is short: express yourselves and take risks.

British, Russian and Native Indian. Hell of a mix! Family holiday gatherings were always festive and to say the least interesting. However, I never felt connected or confident growing up. I always shied away from the spotlight and avoided confrontation; but inside I was screaming, "listen to me!" "Can't you hear what Im thinking!" "Why is everyone so quick to offer their opinions without insight!"
I didn't realize it at the time but I got away with everything and was spoiled because of my sweet polite demeanor and my beauty. Because of my insecurity I had no idea how attractive I was; or that I had opinions that should be heard.
Today I feel sad for that girl. She was weak, a coward and a follower. I write for her...and hope no other young women take her path.
