Long Poems About City

City sky and country hills
The lure of nature grows in its absence.
A lost love hurts more than love delayed.
Mine I surrendered. Its recapture
Showed the full spectrum of what was missed.
A country boy, at first by the seashore
And then entranced by meadows, paths and woods,
By hills and streams and with all that moved there.
Even my university abutted
The Alice in Wonderland river bank.
As a man I embraced the big city.
Who could make a life and future elsewhere?
Yet city suburbs are the no man's land, ...
A lost love hurts more than love delayed.
Mine I surrendered. Its recapture
Showed the full spectrum of what was missed.
A country boy, at first by the seashore
And then entranced by meadows, paths and woods,
By hills and streams and with all that moved there.

The Alice in Wonderland river bank.

new york roots
you'll never get anywhere better
then new york.
highest taxes
and our roads
are still shit.
the buildings are run down
and the homes are all broken.
poorly done graffiti
on the faces
of neglected kids
from big families.
no one does it like rochester
sixth most violent city
in the nation
and its probably the smallest too.
i mean just today
there was a shoot out
right down the street
from my uncle's house ...

Ghetto talk
Speaking in ghetto ways
I was born As an unwanted child
Handed to the streets
My family was crazy
I mean a scitzo mom a Dad that women beats
Brother selling drugs sister having babies
Repeating there cycle no way that would be crazy
I embraced the streets And everything it taught
Hustling and selling
Just for food for thought
Crack houses and feens was all that I knew
I talked that ghetto talk you know what I mean boo
Yo yo yo it's like this and like that
Watch me flow
I'll get up with you next time ight no...
