Novocaine God

"The cross he bears is of man's sin

It's a complex thing when they
preach about religion
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
this is on what decision?

I don't deny, but do i agree?
 
They say in God you find forgiveness
and love, joy, and just no pain
so there is striking similarity
between God and Novocaine
 
--none can take away the pressure
the Bible brings about mental rain
some say it's heaven but I'm not sure
because they worship Novocaine--
 
Ev'ry sense of pain and sadness
gone with just one dose
Helping one through all the hurt
then crashing into comatose
 
millions pray to the Novocaine God
or Xanax, speed, and Valium
Many think that getting high
is better than a group delirium

Standing tall in the middle of the city
churches rise lookin ever-so-fancy

What's the point of holding on
to a troubled, dying faith
when one dose of painkiller heaven
can satisfy your wraith
