Mountain Lullabies

Lay your head down tonight and rest your tired mind
May mares' tails come galloping into your night
Carry you to dreamland where you’ll be back under Colorado skies
The crisp fall air filling your soul with Douglas fir and pines
Your fingertips wet from the kisses from your four-legged friend
Beside you to explore these wondrous mountains you know so well
Together you’ll walk through rushing streams listening to lullabies
Whispered among the greens and echoed in melodies barely audible
From the glens, beyond the white caps, and carried within the mist
To steady you, watch you, and guide you through the trepidations of life.
