The Day The Earth Stood Stupid

"The Day The Earth Stood Stupid" By Marcus Cooke

A circular metal shape
Parts the clouds
With ease
The sunlight reflects
Of its Mirrored metallic form
Blinding the eyes of the
Underpaid office workers.
Coming to a stand still
It hovers
Silently,
Waiting
Suspended over the vast metropolis
High above
The man made towers
And plunging skyline.
Below
The people
Of this fair utopia
Go around there daily business
Fingering there over expensive
Twat machines
Oblivious to what is
Happening above there
Stupid crooked heads.

As a stray seagull
Makes its final approach
It deposits its payload
On a the cranium
Of a blond haired woman
With legs up to her elbows
And plastic in all the wrong
Places.
Her eyes make contact with the
Metallic saucer shape
Parked silently in the heavens
Shrugs her shoulders
And carry's on walking
Through her own materialistic world.
The air turns static
As the saucer shape
Siphons energy from the sun
Powering it mighty Engines
Of mass destruction.

And the people below
..they continue shopping
Not bothering to look up
As buildings and shopping malls
become rubble before
there very eyes
Still battling Fellow
Customers for that
Marked down handbag
At Tk Maxx.

The moral of this piece
Look up
Lay down thy cell phone
Forget about bloody shopping
And take a look
around once in a while!!!
