Too Old To Die Young
I've found empathy from madness
Misguided sorrow from selflessness
And though I know there's no such thing as ghosts
I have seen the past float. In a saltless, sweetened sea of hope
I've found sympathy from sadness. Saw you
couldn't even begin for fear of finishing last
Now like the final hug of two atheists
I'm glad you know how real the risk is
Trouble will come knockin-- darlin,
I hope you're not home
When your trouble comes knockin
I hope you're not alone
Misguided sorrow from selflessness
And though I know there's no such thing as ghosts
I have seen the past float. In a saltless, sweetened sea of hope
I've found sympathy from sadness. Saw you
couldn't even begin for fear of finishing last
Now like the final hug of two atheists
I'm glad you know how real the risk is
Trouble will come knockin-- darlin,
I hope you're not home
When your trouble comes knockin
I hope you're not alone
