Book of hate,
Book of failed relationship
Book of man showing his worst
Book of Love
Book of forgiveness
Book of God manifested on earth
Book of relationship beyond my understanding
Book of epic failure
Book of broken souls
Book of distorted image of God, after all we were created in His image
Book of renewal
Book of direction, to follow Christ not man
Book of restoration through active relationship
Book of words, not meant to be read and believed
Book of words meant to be lived
Book so useless as a book
Book so evil if twisted
Book of introduction, now that we have met, time to live this relationship
Free will allows me to use this book as I please
A door stop
A violent manifesto for selfish pursuit and political misuse
A starter log for the fire place
A way to manipulate my children to "be good"
Free will also allows me to hear Gods voice if I choose to listen
A challenge to love the least of these
A challenge to give up control, to stop playing God
A challenge to walk in Christ teaching
Free will allows this book to not just be a book of words
A living conversation for me
A salvation from the man I am absent of Christ
A road map to his kingdom being lived now not waited on like I was taught as a child
Maybe the difference between this book of my fundamentalist up bringing and the word of God is the eyes I perceive it through.
A map that I have spent my whole life trying to read with out its Key
The eyes of Christ, the missing piece, the key that transforms this map into a living practice of walking on the ground mapped out verses sitting on my ass looking for the map to take me there.
This journey has started, map in my left hand Christ hand in my right, the book now a letter of loving guidance in a relationship walked, not just believed.
All the sudden it is not just words of a page.
I sit here knowing You're with me
I sit here penning meditation
I sit here thankful for Your love
I sit here learning more about relationship, actively talking to You but also being still enough to listen
I feel the peace of Your presents and know You are in this relationship too

This poem is an amazing testimony of your relationship with sprit and condemnation of "book" abuse. As you imply, burning it is fine, using it to brand others is a sacrilege of it's "truth". For me, the greatest heroism is living up to it's romantic hope of possibility even when you know we are in godless world in the end. Good luck staying clean my friend.
