parchments dangled throughout their dwelling

�affidavits guaranteeing that certified fellows

recognized their scholarly accomplishments and capacities

�and they had convinced themselves

that they wished to remain tethered by societal law

�desired to be bound by responsibility

inclined to weather life`s inevitable calamitous storms

�� TOGETHER � � � �
�� for in Unity there is Strength
�� and existence demands focused perseverance

�and they had lost the adhesive

the imeasurable intangibles that guide tandem missiles

�toward subjectively laughable oaths �

misplaced the suspension of disbelief required to bathe in hoax

�forfieted delusion, an incalculable gift that can't be mustered

�and they had abandoned abandon

hopelessly trapped between perceived investment

�and conscious effort binding as the wind

what they sought to preserve had disintegrated

�as suddenly as it had formed

�and though they both knew

neither could admit the dissolution of comfort and joy
