Promise
Love.
It's a strange cocktail isn't it?
It's giving all of yourself and hoping to whatever God you choose to believe in you're not making a mistake.
It's joy. And fear. Lust. Peace. And pain.
It's heaven. It's hell.
I want to love you with all you deserve.
I want to shower you with kisses every night when you're in that limbo of semi-consciousness and dreamland until you drift into sleep marveling at how blessed I am to have stumbled upon your existence.
I want to hold you with all that I have, pick you up when you fall but being the selfless person you are will never admit it.
But I'll know.
I want to be the woman that is the last thing you think about at night and drifting in the sunlight in the morning.
I never want to speak to you a lie.
I want you to be the only one allowed to hold me when I cry.
I want to be the a thing in your life that no matter what you do you know I'll always be as constant as the northern star.
But while you receive, you also have to give.
And I'm terrified that while I'm running for home, you won't even step up to the plate.
But when I look in your eyes, and it's just us in that warm and safe silence, I know in my soul that I'm safe with you.
But I think that secretly you're scared too.
I know that you don't want to get hurt, and neither do I.
But I'm going to try.
Try my damndest to make you not regret me, or turn into a more bitter than sweet memory.
I don't care about your sins. I have them too. I don't care about the distance. It's meaningless to me. I don't care about the not so great things you've done in the past. Haven't we all?
What I care about is now. And what to do with it.
So...what are we going to do?

I enjoyed this, it read like a love letter rather than a poem. The one problem I had was the overly long second line of the second stanza, especially the lack of commas or breaking up of the sentence. I feel perhaps it could be stretched into two?
I really dug the feeling of trepidation though, which as anyone who has ever been in love - or even close to it - can attest is both a happy and sorrowful ache... one that never quite leaves.
