CATCHING DRAGONFLIES

Slow motion...
Moves the ghost inside my bedroom.
Pulling me from sleep.
As it moves closer,
drags its fingers down my spine.

No matter,
how loud the television's screaming...
I hear it perfectly.
So I stop and listen,
as whispers work their way inside.
    I know
on a perfect night for wind chimes.
The spirit speaks to me.
    How long?
I'll be outside catching Dragonflies,
until that spirit leaves, until it leaves...

Nothing, but a trail of violent color.
Smeared across the wall.
In this cold summer.
It rips it claws into my heart...
Assuring me a scar.

Run rabbit run.
Coward run.
Human run.
    I know
On a perfect night for wind chimes.
The spirit's haunting me.
    How long?
I'll be outside catching Dragonflies...
Until the spirit sleeps.
