It is odd to say the least,
Who is this person I call a friend?
I knew her as Audrey who has become Sophia,
That is not the mystery,
But a natural progression.

Audrey,
The innocent, free spirit,
Playful kid at heart,
Eager to trust and fall in love,
A true romantic she will forever be.

Sophia,
At ease she is,
With the sultry and sensuous power she wields.
Yet vulnerable,
As sadness hides within her.
Her heart, broken one too many times,
As sorrow lies beneath the confident woman she portrays.

Audrey,
Is plain to see who this woman is,
A dreamy princess in a kingdom of happy endings,
All too contrived I'm afraid.

Sophia,
The sultry diva she now feels,
Her beauty matched only by her passion,
Saddened by her unfulfilled desires.

She willingly bares her soul,
As only the true of heart can,
Honoured I am to witness and accept her gift,
Cherish it I do, for it is her heart that speaks.

That is the muse she has bid to be,
That is the friend I have come to Love,
The Audrey Sophia is her hidden self,
She had doth proclaimed it so.

Only now has her fruits ripened for ONE to see,
Unexpected has been the joy,
For her genie has been released,
And her wish is thy command.

The genie is all powerful!
Its flaw - The possessor must command...
Confusion reins,
As she is torn between the life that is,
And the passion that awaits.

Life and logic rule,
As decreed by her other self,
For it knows not of the heart,
But of the mind.

The genie is tapped,
The heart now weeps,
Audrey and Sophia are now mere characters,
Their luster destined to be but faded images.

Life has done what it always does,
Consume the passion, desires and wants,
Until all that is left,
Is the regrets of what could have been...
