Satanic Memorae

From within this light disturbed
the small shadow, cowering among
those despotic temples--
the image sunken deeper;
prayers full of words
both sacred and divine
and left the profane blank;
opening, belief is unusual,
within those silent, unholy corridors
where desperate eyes speak unto
those reprobate angels scattering
like vermin under the neon lace
as old dreams wander like ghosts.

Only good little boys go to Heaven...

The cover of this great work
ne'er changes--fading graffiti
inflicted like scars;
within the Devil's heart
are only empty rooms
of an old hotel--
the dusty debris fallen thickly
upon the pane of glass
through, which still hold
the most beloved artifacts
of what might have been

If only for a very short time...

Before this quest becomes
a search for the child
that was lost within
the deepening shadows
of memorae, and those
once great temples
of hope and promises
began to crumble, dust
covering o'er a eye left
too dull to be alive...
too viciously cold
to have ever been human

When only that which is mortal remains...

The lovers stage,
stricken with beauty,
driven toward this mad carnival
a summoning of heartless amusements;
suffering those imaginary
tribal lines, swollen and red
with infection--as the pretty
youth dances upon the stake,
adoring the savagery of the flames
as the moths sputter and clamor
in a frenzy
if only, in the moment,
to recognize the bitter-sweet
after-taste of conquests

Fluttering
in a breathless death,
sent dancing
and spent to the earth...

As the tiny little shadow
watches, eyes hidden,
over-filled with horror,
weeping angrily,
trying to learn how scream love
into the heart of the world...

How?
Why?
Stop!
PLEASE...

Where no one can hear its screams.
