Darker Space 3: Darkest Place

She called me
And taught me a lesson
She called me
And asked me a question
To sit with her in a rocket
And leave all the unkind
To a distant place
They will never find
She now sits in the rocket alone
I declined
I asked her to stay
But those were words
She knew I would say
And all the speeches
I had thought through
About loved ones and family
She also knew
So I spoke of a darker place
Darker than space
Living within four walls
That cannot be called home
Being in a crowd alone
Crying for help
But not aloud
Lost in a sea of beacons
Never to be found
I spoke of a life
That the both of us knew
And I told her
“Leaving might be what you choose
But what will your one and only do
If I have to go through life
Without you”
She stepped out of the rocket
She broke her key in the lock
And under a shooting star
We started to talk

She called me
And asked me a question
She called me
And taught me a lesson
There are some choices
We should not make
There are some paths
We should not take
