I had to eventually.

She asked
how long
it had been

"Two years"

i trusted
my vocal cords
not to let out
the earnest
with which
i spoke
although,
the timidness
of my
body language
spoke otherwise
as the heavy needles
of realism
fell on the soft
skinned subject

"Thats quite
a while,
then why
are all of these
still around?"
she brandished the love letters
that pinned to my wall
with her
dismissive fingers

And i guess
i wanted to reply
with "Well,
with saying that
don't all memories
linger about
too long?"

but instead
i finished
my smoke
in silence
and said
"Yeah, did
you want to
help me burn them?"

And we did,
hard polariods
melted with
the ash
of once
feverishly
thumbed love letters,

watching
the ashes
and the poisonous
smoke of polariods
turn into
what i
had become.
