It Makes Her Feel

Having her pressed sleeves
and pleated skirt
seem to bring her back
and yet
it is only when the lips
touch that everything
really begins
to emit
that ceremonial light
that beacons
the flight
of an angel
who has recovered her sky.

She tokens
the bus with a blown kiss
and sends
her childhood on its way.

Her loose shoes
fit better now
and her broken glasses
don't fade so much
on an evening
lost on stars.

One last thought
bemuses her
as she flips the switch
and sends
the panel into darkness;
was it just a dream
or did she feel
the sand beneath
her feet
and hold a mountain
full of stone?
