"Always Been Your Father's Daughter."
When you were younger, in pig tails
Always in trouble
They’d laughed and say,
“She’s just like her father.”
You’ve gained some years and
They’re all nervously watching
As your delicate footprints start to
Match up with his as you’re walking.
Now you look just like him,
“She’s the mirror image of her father.”
You inherited his freckles
His olive skin
His,
Addiction.
It’s okay, you’ve always known
Since that day in October, you were born
“You’ve always been your father’s daughter.”
It’s in your genes, it was in your home.
If you look close, you can clearly see
The apple didn’t fall far from
The paternal tree.
“Poor girl has meth in her genes,
We knew she would be
Just like her daddy,
A meth addicted,
JUNKIE.”
