The Sea of Sand
I walk thru a desert,
Alone with naught but my shadow.
Heat and thirst plague me,
Is that an oasis ahead,
Or is it just a mirage?
Whatever it is it can't be good,
Because after all - it's me here.
Life is that desert,
One in which I thought I had found my oasis,
My happiness,
But alas, like always,
Love and happiness are the mirage,
Nothing more than a scene upon the horizon.
It all looked so real,
But the closer I got,
It disappeared before my eyes.
I walked still further thru the sands,
Scorched and thirsty.
All I wanted was a drop.
For years I had been locked in a cage,
I had finally found my escape,
I thought I had found my freedom,
I thought I had life again,
I thought I had brought an end to my anguish,
But as before, Alas - it vanished,
Leaving me here again - except for my shadow,
Alone in the sea of sand.
Alone with naught but my shadow.
Heat and thirst plague me,
Is that an oasis ahead,
Or is it just a mirage?
Whatever it is it can't be good,
Because after all - it's me here.
Life is that desert,
One in which I thought I had found my oasis,
My happiness,
But alas, like always,
Love and happiness are the mirage,
Nothing more than a scene upon the horizon.
It all looked so real,
But the closer I got,
It disappeared before my eyes.
I walked still further thru the sands,
Scorched and thirsty.
All I wanted was a drop.
For years I had been locked in a cage,
I had finally found my escape,
I thought I had found my freedom,
I thought I had life again,
I thought I had brought an end to my anguish,
But as before, Alas - it vanished,
Leaving me here again - except for my shadow,
Alone in the sea of sand.
