winters moon

As I lie awake in bed, another sleepless night
The rain pours down against my roof
The wind rustling against the trees
I’m under four blankets in the freezing cold
My fingertips are that of ice
My skin turning a pale purple
I’m in shivers, chilled to my very core
I’ve learnt not to question existence but in this very moment I can’t quite help it
What am I doing here?
On this earth, I am nothing
I thought my questions were answered when I met you
But how wrong I was
Tears streak my face as I’m left alone to hug my pillow
I dry my eyes, broken inside
You should be here with me
Keeping me safe from the cold
