Finding You Again

From a long forgotten past you rose
to find me where I stood,
my heart ,unsure, froze…
Never would I have thought
to see you again,
never would I have thought
to feel the way I did back then.

Why are the heavens castigating me this way?

Ripping open an old scar long since sealed,
until the tears once again flow
and once more the pain holds sway.
The sound of your voice, its timbre,
is enough to lay claim to my soul.
The proximity of your body
reeks havoc on every fiber of my being,
it loosed my grasp on reality’s hold
making me again feel nineteen years old.
I loved you more than life
and dared to dream of things kept behind
a glass the color rose light.

Reality cruel and unforgiving
soon let it be known,
that we belonged to others
and that we should not roam…
But love cannot be tamed, contain or denied
and it will have its way no matter what
society dictates at the time.
We dared to steal moments in time
to love passionately as we once did
when I was your and you were mine …

Oh…What sweet bliss it was to know
the feel of your body
and the power of your kiss that was so bold.
The riot that was created
when in your arms, my form you did enfold.
It is the stuff of legends, the fodder
that poets write about in prose.
The agony that is to love knowing
that come the morrow,
we each must return to our unhappy homes.

This was destiny’s Idea of a cruel, cruel joke…
