THE HEART OF A MOTHER

If I could...
I'd guide you away from that
road called "stray".
I'd make sure no harm come
your way.
If I could...
I'd protect you from all the
hurt and pain.
I'd make sure your life is
filled with more sunshine
then rain.
If I could...
I'd wipe all the disappointments
from your eyes.
I'd protect you from the destruction
of other's lies.
If I could...
I'd shield you from the desires in this
life the are wrong.
I'd hold your hand when you are weak
and let it go when you are strong.
If I could...
I'd reveal life's secrets never spoken,
I'd protect your heart from being broken,
and I'd reveal all the deceitful people
to whom you are blind.
But, the powers of life that's given are
not mine.
But I would... If I could.
