Did People Have Enough Of Silly Love Songs?

Spread your wings and let me in
You know I'll always cherish the time spent"
Entered my life when there were no colors
the mundane was my best friend
and any intimacy seem to be a letdown
"You came along and showed me
I could leave it all behind
You opened up my heart again
And then much to my surprise
I found love, baby, love in the nick of time"
Overcast and gloomy like the Classic IV song
you were the Kodachrome
the expanse of choices to my palate
"You're my painted picture
You fill my life with color
You're my painted picture
You're the one that I adore"
Pleasant cascade washes over me
don't need to touch
your smile brings all the healing rays

All I got to be is, be happy
All it's got to take is some warmth to make it

So if you should go I hope
that eventually you will find the way back
a decision you make in full hope and confidence

This humble expression...meagerly dressed
But jealous night and all her secret chords

Time my reveal other plans
but not sorrow will I let linger for too long
for even if only briefly we shared lovers' grace

cherish the uniqueness of the bond
and the wisdom of what it meant
for to do otherwise
would dishonor all that defined us

Thanks...I was told the last time I did something like this that using this many song quotations wasn't the best way to construct a poem. However I am not a good one for conventions which is why I don't consider myself a poet.
I won't really argue with you about the 70ies except I do think the 60ies were pretty good as well. That was the decade in which the bulk of the Beatle work was created. Some pretty good Motown tunes in there as well. I must say I don't have the best perspective as I wasn't around for most of the 60ies, let alone playing a record or cd.

Thanks. Silly Love Songs was the main reason I wanted to learn to play bass. Still love doing that song and probably always will.
Some of the stuff Sir Paul came up with post Beatles wasn't always the greatest, but on every release you could find at least one terrific love song... until he got divorced!
