Growing up in Hood

Lacked the ingredients we needed,
so it was hard for us to make it.
Crack babies from the 80's so drug addiction,
it was hard for us to shake it.

Growing up in the hood all odds was against us.
And if opportunity was ever knocking,
the shit must of skipped us.

In the hood it was only a few things our future had in store,
going to jail, getting killed, robbing people or distributing raw.

As for me robbing people was the trade I sought.
Why work for it when I can take it.
Thats just how I thought.

We got out education from the worst of the schools.
So naturally we graduated to the streets and tuned into the worst of the goons.

In the hood the government aint never gave us shit!
Just orange blocks of cheese for the kids in the jecks and books of welfare stamps.

In the hood it was hard for a buck coming up.
No role models leaving footsteps to follow.

Had moms playing both roles from the womb,
Umm and my father.

Teach couldn't school a lil nigga to the streets so I didnt bother.

Tried hustling,
but like Smokey getting high was my only problem.

So of course I resort to robbing.
Gun and mask in my hand during my transition to a man led to a lifetime full of problems...
