Because Of That Chair

Oh shut up!
You have so much to be grateful for.
You take so much for granted.
Things that change lives
Drastically from others’ perspective.

That chair you sit on was a home.
It was shade.
It was food.
It was beauty.
Now it sits there, hard and square,
Looking useless, looking simple.

You call it industrialisation.
Modern, new, beautiful, right?
Was it not beautiful when it had leaves?
When it let out clean oxygen
Helping you?
But no, you cut it down.

Because of that chair
A squirrel is homeless,
A bird, hungry,
The earth, parched.

Because of your chair
A big hole turned huge today.
The ozone layer is almost gone.
Because you need comfort
The world suffers.

Don’t tell me you have nothing!
As far as I think,
You don’t know the meaning of nothing.
You still have a home, food, that chair.

You say modern
And you believe you are building a haven
But you’re building the same hell in which
You, are to burn.
That haven is your demise.

Continue, but don’t complain until you
Learn what needing is.
Shut up.
Think of that bird and that squirrel when
You, feel like saying your chair is
Too hard.
