I think the title and the photo work so well, and so interestingly, together. I read that / like a long sad blink. I like how you talk about granite - a lot of the houses round here have old granite in them somewhere, and you can tell cause it holds the damp, so everywhere smells like wet cloth. She's just like that, stood there, taking it in. Granite and people definitely aren't too dissimilar, I'd think. 'i give not' is my favourite line; it's so bare and final. Anyway, I really enjoyed this, the words to me had a real reflective quiet, which makes them easy to lay back against.
