Unfinished Dreams

This image in my head
Can paint this picture in only one color
My words are monochrome
But in my head the imagery is vivid
I can paint in only one color
Alone alone alone.....

Can't you see what I see?
These colors in my head
Can't you see this lovely picture?
You're seeing just one color!
There is more to me
So much more inside my head.....

I want to share these pictures.
I want to paint these pictures.
But I lack the skill and the tools
Its raw, its rough, its weird, its unclean
Unfinished works that should be pristine
Its awkward and uncomfortable
Misshaped and won't fit
Before I begin I have already quit
I'm mad at myself, my thoughts are now screaming
Be quiet, get out, I can't see what I'm thinking
My minds racing faster, my nerves are shaking
Get rid of the thoughts that they will only mistaken.
Get rid of the words they will misunderstand
Get rid of the dream, let it all be forgotten
Get rid of the hope that someone will look in
Lost in despair of your own self rejection
All the aches and the pains and the fear and the hurt
That what you thought what was gold is actually dirt
You went forth from your walls
Like a lamb to the slaughter
Better to lock up and hide
from the scorn and the laughter
Accept this grey prison and stop painting in color!

Let the image die
Let it fade to the black
You don't bother seeing
The dreams you can't show
Let it come through in flashes
All those unfinished works
Blinding them with color......

Leave them stunned
Looking shocked
Looking bothered
Make them look extra hard for what you want to show
Make them think about things that they didn't know
But they are scared of the ride that they are in for
Alone in despair as you are sitting and waiting
For that person to step through the open door
So you can share all the dreams you've always been painting
Let them into to your walls so you can finally be known
Your radiant true colors can finally be shown!

But this is just another painting in grey
Black words on white canvas
Another song unheard
An unfinished thought
Another dream misunderstood.....
