Regret
I knew the moment we met that I could feel love again
but I knew that we were never meant to ever meet
when you smile you cut through my darkness like Aurora Borealis
I walk in the shadows of the wastelands, forever in misery
I fell in love with an old black and white photo of you
a picture captured in time from centuries ago
that look in your eyes, captured my soul, and kept me at peace
now you are here in front of me and I don't know what to do
Your laughter haunts me still as I run forever in place
I want you to follow me into the shadows of the Wastelands
to see the world in which I live, to feel the pain I feel
to lift me up and out of misery with your Angel hands
but it is not meant to be because it was never meant to be
The Fates and the Gods have another plan for you and I
and all I wanted was to dance with you under a pure white moon
but I'm too scared to tell you, I am unclean and shy
Yes, I carry the black and white photo of you wherever I roam
and if I was allowed to hope it would be to sing with you, one small duet
I'll sit under the night sky, holding onto your photo like it was you
we were never meant to meet and that is my biggest regret
but I knew that we were never meant to ever meet
when you smile you cut through my darkness like Aurora Borealis
I walk in the shadows of the wastelands, forever in misery
I fell in love with an old black and white photo of you
