treading through shit, drenched in piss
trying so desperately
to make a name
it's a shame because they don't even know
who is playing and who they're up against
they're constantly making excuses for
the losers they call themselves
or the authors
of their own sad stories,
so sad,
you couldn't find it on the shelf.
and isn't it upsetting when a teenage girl
writes poetry
and tries to wrap it around her would
and she mentions "She" in all of it
and when She reads them
She'll act
like She's not drowning in self doubt
She'll act
like She is some sort
of a trippy shitty metaphor
that will call out emotions
and turn that smile
upside down
She hopes she moves you
She hopes you can relate
when She is walking
through a field of cigarettes
at times sprinting
trying to catch her breath
despite the nicotine
and the black tar clinging
to her lungs
choking She from the words
She should've sung
but it all failed
and isn't it a shame
She's name fell to the cold tile floor
giving everything She could
to her shitty metaphor
