A Farewell Conversation

- You're so quiet.

     I know.

- What's on your mind?

     Only one thing, my friend,
     how to leave the world
     behind, trying to think of
a way out of this place, to
     make my escape, to abandon
     this race...

- How will you do it?

Of that, I'm not sure, but
give me a day, a week, or
perhaps a bit more; but I
     will come up with something,
     of this I am sure...

- Where will you go? With whom will you be?

     Alone I will be, in
     a much better place;
     where the water is clean
and the grass is so green,
where birds sing their songs on
     the back of a breeze.

Where there's a sky so blue
     with clouds pearl white,
the sun guards the day, a
     canopy of stars, the night...

- But won't you be lonely with no one to see?

     Not in the least...
     I'll finally be free.
