Embers

I walk this same path I know it so well
sliding back to a life that's heading for hell
so many footprints so much I have wasted
this battle I'm loosing got to turn round and face it
a spec in the horizon now a life full of fear
I want to turn and run find complacency's care
but now there's nothing to see to gaze back at the past
ignorant life just doesn't last
You call me a hard bastard when my face wears a frown
but if I'm never happy then I can't crash down
if I have no hope I wont feel it fall apart
if I avoid love then you wont break my heart
I put on this mask so you wont see my pain
to stop you from seeing whats inside my brain
my life is a dream that I can't control
serving a life sentence I can't make parole
Take a hit to forget it a smoke to remember
as the rage inside grows like a smouldering ember
let it all go or haven't you got the strenght
are you calling me weak could you go the length?
I couldn't handle the pain I tried to carry the cross
now I need this to live without this hit I am lost
that mountain of fear down this path of regret
my blinded past and the pain I'll never forget
I lived my life the only way I knew how
mental suicide emotional hell
now one hit too many and I'm leaving it behind
what I was seeking I just couldn't find
