Our Civil War may be over but Our Culture War rages on
We’ve laid down our guns only to continue fighting with words and laws.
Its American vs. American
Which side are you on?
Its time you decide
America is deeply divided and her choices are clear.
Its evil vs. good
Its 5th avenue vs. the hood
Generosity vs. the greedy
and not giving a damn about the needy
It’s the NAACP vs. the Klan
Its robbing people from your Wall Street office vs. working for the man
Its Liberal vs. Conservative
Its hiding behind Christianity to oppress people
Its making plans for burning crosses in the shadow of the steeple
Its progressiveness vs. stagnation
Affirmative action vs. discrimination
Its turning a blind eye to the worlds starvation
Its having compassion for your fellow American vs. social Darwinism
Its tolerance vs. racism
Intelligence vs. ignorance
Believing that public education has importance
It’s the rich vs. the poor
Peace vs. war
The intellectual vs. Red Neck
Playing fair vs. a stacked deck
It’s the Tea Party vs. the rest of us who have brains
It’s scaring the red necks into thinking everyone “NON-WHITE” is coming to take what’s theirs
And believing in Manifest Destiny and THEY are the rightful heirs
Its trying to preserve “WHITE” America vs. believing we should do more to fight Aides in Africa
Its country music vs. hip hop
Its fanning the flames of hatred vs. people who want it stopped
Its country music vs. rock and roll
Its wanting to place a women’s right to choose under government control
Its Rosa Parks vs. Montgomery Alabama
Its George W. Bush vs. Barrack Obama
Its Dr. Martin Luther King vs. James Earl Ray
Its being treated as a second class citizen because you’re gay
Its Corporate vs. the labor union
Its cutting the pay of the teacher, fireman and the policeman
Its thinking Hawaii isn’t a state vs. knowing Ronald Reagan’s trickle down economics was anything but great
Tax cuts for the rich vs. screwing the middle class
Its keeping the downtrodden in society’s caste
Its saving the environment vs. ignoring scientific evidence
And the oil companies huge profits that take top precedence
Understanding the separation of church and state vs. trying to make America a Christian theocracy
Using power and wealth to trample the Constitution vs. believing in democracy
Its dropping bombs and blowing shit up vs. diplomacy
Jackie Robinson vs. baseball
The 13th amendment vs. Jim Crow Law
Its believing that every American deserves descent health care and not just the elite
Its having no conscience about the poor people you cheat
Big pharmaceutical companies that hold us all hostage
Its knowing separate but equal was anything but
And the people who thought otherwise were either bigots or nuts
Its believing the right to bare arms includes any assault weapon you choose
vs being spared the scenes of mass murder we see on the news
It’s the congress being seduced by the bribe of the lobbyist
vs. us getting fucked before we get kissed!
Its red vs. blue
Clinging to the past vs. embracing the new
And its all of us vs. all of you….

Thank you! ... i feel like this is my best work. I had the idea for about a year before I wrote it. It was so much stuff that at one time I considered making it an essay. I originally wrote it with the idea of using it at a poetry slam but I never did... So DUP is the only place it's seen the light of day..
