Beasts Need to Eat
I have a hole in my heart. To match it my soul sets a spark. If it catches it rolls on a lark.
Everyone has inner beasts. Mine’s grimmer than my beats, dimmer than the LAPD and for dinner prefers to feast on me!
Discrete traps to defeat the Beast in rap. It reaps but can only feed what it can catch. No trouble with that. Except for the unexpected bubble of gas it left, huddled to last. If I’m muzzled that gas won’t pass…
…discrete gas trap! Rots me until I share… …Okay, the Beast has got me there… …until I release his hot air!
I shall not despair. Matchsticks! Crash this dark bliss; catch the gas and spark it! That’s how I aspire to disperse a fireburst. Notions blow right and far, exposing the night with stars, like exploding quasars! So much soul when I scat and spar like rolling with Pat Benatar! I scat fast and then go too far!
But that’s the breezy release I need… …for the whole of my art… …to fill the hole in my heart. To match it my soul sets a spark and set for coasting like perpetual motion, my energy urges ya’ like synergy with no inertia, out of control from the start!
I catch a flow and roll on a lark. Once I go, there are no brakes for this Pirate Rake, no place to park. No stop, no Hell to drop into, no cops to tell me they “…can’t top [my] spin juice and please do not include us in your homebrew…”
My dome rues these tomes so blue, but zoom fine ‘cuz like moonshine it’s all distilled true, tight and frightening like white lightning! Clout misused without an outhouse to run to, unexpected like a diuretic, but I don’t stress it as my flows gun forever too!

Every time I read your writes Loki, it feels like they're getting better. You always articulate how you feel so well, it makes me almost jealous of you because of my lacking in that skill. I really stink at letting my emotions through properly. ;p

Each write is intended to reach a little further to whoever is listening. The hard part is to filter out the shouts to unfriendlies. There are those who will not listen, who refuse.
In a buuuuunch of my work is referrences that I don't catch until after it's down, because I don't edit much. I'll chop lines with the "ENTER" key and the over-use of ellipses ... ... ... in order that people can hear the hypnotic rhythm break.
It would be better heard out loud the way it's originally spit.
It would be better still if my tape recorder didn't suck because when it gets played back I sound drunk, which is NOT how live audiences ever perceive the same work. It's improv flow, which hides too much.
The trick to letting your emotions out righteously is to ignore all those who are NOT right for you. I have a haaaaaard time with that.

I don't hate the police. I've dated cops in the past. I still talk to both of them, though not regularly anymore. It has nothing to do with them wearing a badge and everything to do with these two individuals not respecting humanity and being the sort of people I don't want my kids around.
Yet it isn't them I'm blasting. It's racist cops I've witnessed sic'ing German Shepherds on young men locked up in the back of squad cars, in parking lots where these fucking cops had ZERO business patrolling as it was neighborhood turf. Protected against armed bill-collecting blue-coated thugs. I've watched winos get woken up in parks to tazer attacks and then beaten, while the public moves on. I've met soooooo many victims and helped sooo many people that sometimes the hate comes out when it shouldn't. That's where my raps and poetry get vicious... the rhyme gets faster, the timing is tighter, and heard live it's... uh... room-clearing sometimes.
When I stop and re-think though, I realize SOOOOOO much of the heaviest wrath is a clear blast to those who simply refuse to listen. The two cops I mentioned not talking to much anymore? They're not ignorant to the corruption in the world, or the things I've shown them. They simply don't give a fuck.
They will defend the worst actions of their colleagues not as "Isolated examples of evil" but as "certain people allowed the system to go too far, or for the power to get to their heads." In other words to these people, the corrupt bullies of the world didn't set up a system where they could continue to rule and then use Machiavellian means to achieve that. Oh, no, the system is good, and a few bad apples HAPPENED to stumble on power. Right. Otherwise it's all righteous. Long as you don't pay attention. There are those who believe in this.
They are not my audience. They are unfriendlies who once in awhile come around and when they do, diplomacy is haaaaard for me. I don't hold back just because of personal connection. If someone doesn't want to listen though... I often have a hard time letting go and so a line or two will drift through that's meant for them in my freestyle flow.
Okay. Sounds like a good release? Maybe. Or maybe, no. Maybe, that's a psychic vampire blockage. In other words, whatever you have to express, whatever gave you so much anguish that you gave yourself the name "Scars"?
Remember that those who gave you those scars, the ones that didn't grow on their own? Alot of them wouldn't listen even if they were to read your work here. So... anytime a line pops that's something you always wanted to scream but knew that the person who NEEDS to hear it would drown it out?
Like their concern and attention span, keep it short and let the parts where your loved ones and those who you respect and respect you ramble on. It's like sticking with the light side. Not necessarily sticking with what's most fluffy bunny positive, but staying with communicating within the lines of least resistance, most productivity and the rest comes naturally.
