The Comedian's Failure
"As I was saying to your mum about you and your sister, I am not too bothered about what you do, just as long as you are happy."
An unexpected heart to heart phrase Dad said one evening,
Now if only I could be inspired by it
Maybe even wake up and care about it.
But like just about everything: I no longer care.
A monster's monster:
Waving an axe around but taking no pleasure.
Just a statuesque blank empty unending stare
The same I would've given people when they talk
Instead my eyes look everywhere except at them.
All the world's a farce and I am a fool.
All the time in the world for a witty comment
And words to make someone else smile,
Make 'em laugh, make 'em giggle and grin.
But an accursed eternity silently by myself,
Like a well known hilarious sketch
that never gets past rehearsal.
