This Morning
When I saw the sunrise light your face this morning
I felt in me a gentle warming
A masterpiece, no more, no less
A teardrop welled by my happiness
In a silent fall, I watched it land
Upon the pillow by your lips
Like a footprint left etched in the sand
A single drop of tenderness
Right place, right time I guess
A cosmic force, the hand of Jesus
A sign that God not only sees us
But believes in us enough to free us
A frame of time when the heavens part
Our eyes never see it though we feel it in our hearts
So perfect and isolated,
It comes without warning
I felt it today for the first time
When I saw the sunrise light your face this morning
I felt a love for you that completely absorbed me
Overwhelmed by the beauty I saw on the canvas before me
And the picture I took with the lens of my eye
Opening the shutter letting the light come inside
And even though the moment happened so fast
In my soul developed a photograph
That can never be lost, yellow, or fade
And I’ll carry it with me until the end of my days
So if the skies get cloudy and the blue becomes gray
I’ll stop the rain and quiet the storming
Recalling the glory and the beauty before me
When I saw the sunrise light your face this morning
I felt in me a gentle warming
A masterpiece, no more, no less
A teardrop welled by my happiness
In a silent fall, I watched it land
Upon the pillow by your lips
Like a footprint left etched in the sand
A single drop of tenderness
Right place, right time I guess
A cosmic force, the hand of Jesus
A sign that God not only sees us
But believes in us enough to free us
A frame of time when the heavens part
Our eyes never see it though we feel it in our hearts
So perfect and isolated,
It comes without warning
I felt it today for the first time
When I saw the sunrise light your face this morning
I felt a love for you that completely absorbed me
Overwhelmed by the beauty I saw on the canvas before me
And the picture I took with the lens of my eye

That can never be lost, yellow, or fade

Recalling the glory and the beauty before me
When I saw the sunrise light your face this morning
