bereft
I’ve been irritated before
this isn’t it
I’ve been self-pitying before
this isn’t it
there’s a growing prickling
around the back of my skull
pushing me to contemplate
my mortality
Am I done here?
no fucker has the answers
although they’re only too happy
to share the wrong ones
too tired to think now
and too numbed to feel
aware enough to grimace
at suffocating clichés
this is it, when the journey
is pointless and only
the destination holds
the slightest bit of interest

... it's the soul speaking in this one. Well done!

Read this last night as well -
For me this speaks to me of aging. That looking back and forth, left wondering.
Atakti Your writing reminds me a bit of my husband's ( obviously a tad shorter. Jeesh that man can write novels ! lol )
You have that same kinda no nonsense thing about you which I personally prefer.
Much enjoyed :)

Hi Maggie,
Yeah, I've read Uley's stuff, it's good (sometimes long, I need a running start to get through some of 'em, lol).
Thanks for stopping by.

Re: bereft
It takes a time to navigate this place, glad to have landed here, better late then not at all.... our destinations may confuse sometimes to catch a breath .. bereft indeed ... ah! good words to place upon a page

Very melancholic, and I must agree with it all. I feel Life is about finding your own answers. It is exhausting and frustrating work. I am almost always in an existential frame of mind, thinking of why I/we are here, and what my/our purpose is. More and more questions, and no good answers. But I think as long as I keep searching for myself, then I am living.

You said what I've tried to so many times, just without my rambling. I love your work, it's gonna take me a while to read through it all though :)
