The Undertow

**Originally submitted for "Incy-Wincy Spider" competition**

Led unto his obsidian pane
beneath which dreams
become unfixed within
the cerebral web.

She dreamed of you...

Subconscious panels shift
unhinged within the sterling frame
which once caged the spirit
captive an asylum
of the fiercest cold chamber
of the heart.

Within the pain-drive

Helplessly watching on
as a another soul is shattered
in Heaven's residue.
Marked from Hell
by white quills
with bloody nibs
scrawling the divine name
of Mother Night.

Arms clasped tight, upon her sterile womb...

Lie thee down,
chile-acolyte,
among those passionate tides
where the heart and soul
desire to be kept
pure and undefiled,
curled up unto
a child-like faith
within the precious warmth
all of loving arms
around you

Her spirit has drawn many faces,
thick with old paint
...

As she who waits
beneath the wreckage
of once beautiful stars,
amidst tainted waters
which ebb and wan
along the mortal shore.
You can never trace
the travel
of the dark undertow
in the mad,
chaotic descent of man
and angel...

Capture the emotional pique
upon the changing face
...

And of what other creatures
that should never be.

... A ripple of echoes
distilled from the angels
mad laughter
.
