Lullaby
After a while she opened her eyes
thinking of a spun cacoon a
winding twirl of silver silk she
might wrap about herself reciting some
spell spitting out thin magical
saliva turning spinning like a
skater until she was enclosed
completely then she would see:
hear but would not need to move
encased by material so strong
unbreakable though soft as warm
water that everything else became
as entirely beside the point: her
real enclosure was as pointless
as successive envelopes with nothing
inside: while she lay safe and free
within them.
