untitled

Silence
sleeps in empty houses
beneath bed sheets
and lingers in
coffee gone cold.
Silence screams-
it's the noise
after all the other
noises cease-
to make sound.
It's a broken clock-
it's the seconds
before the alarm goes off.
Silence
is a scream under water.
It's words never spoken-
uncomfortable pauses...
in conversation.
It's in the wishing
of a phone to ring.
Silence
is at times
louder than any sound
wished itself to be.
