Chasing The Dragon - Part II

I spent a large portion of my life chasing that bitch.
Occasionally I’d catch her.
She would breathe enough fire around me
to warm my chilled bones and aching muscles.
She would make it all go away
creating bliss and tranquility like no other I had ever dreamed.
Inevitably, after a few hours
she would give me a nice swift kick in the nuts and send me on my way.

I continued to search for her
chasing her down everywhere I could
until the day I discovered that I was no longer chasing her.
The roles had reversed
and this God forsaken fucking Dragon
was now chasing me.
I used every hiding place and tail slipping technique available
yet she always caught up with me.
I’d grown sensitive to the fire that once brought me warmth.
It had become a blazing flame that shot threw me.
It no longer felt the same
or effected me the same.
The fire charred my skin
penetrated my guts
and mutilated my soul
until it was hanging by a microscopic fiber.
I’d give her a clever kick in the cunt to no avail.
She would grin while spiting more fire from her demonic nostrils.

I lied in the poppy fields
broken and beaten
having lost all connection to reality.
The air in my own lungs
dwindling away
nearing my final breath
when the anonymous dragon slayer
swooped in for the kill
saving what was left
of my miserable existence.
