Friendship bracelet

On one minute past sun-fall
I brought out the thread
The needle gleamed silvery
Basking in sinister moonlit showers
Of resplendent fragile arrows
Spilling out from the
gap between the curtains

I started to sow a pattern
Around the frail bones of her wrist
Delving under roped veins
Resurfacing till letting
Her body swallow it up again
No sound, no sound
(So brave, so brave)

Even with the unwelcome addition
To her young and vulnerable mind
She soldiered on
Till it took over
(stand at attention)
Morphing into my own little
Baby girl ghost

The time is prodding my back
With a crooked finger
Signalling it is time to let go
I set horse whispers free
I love you honey
Even in death your chin is up
And blank eyes stubborn

I take her wrist laying it next to mine
Our very own friendship bracelets
Death will never do us part
