what works (for me)

ignoring the protein intake
and just down home good flavor
of fried unicorn, the untethered dreamer
drifts too lofty for my interest level
to ride along

nor does the predictable dark entice
good for an occasional school shooting
but the in between angst is masked in image
sugar skull, candy sweet

lead me instead
to the writer with bloody knuckles
on one hand
the other disguising
dynamite or floral arrangement
give me his grin-smirk-smile
that suggests he gets the big ha-ha
but is too impatient not to partake
in the next one
do not describe his infinity eyes
that make terms like fear
and courage meaningless
those eyes that make wading pools
of women

give me the poet
who reduces goddess
to whore
who raises brief encounter
to a black asp bit suicide

write me charged particle
a happening over excited
give permission to the term abstract
so we can exist
without the death
of definition

anchor the light of dream
in the rotting earth
so all plants get nourished
do not pluck me rose
without first picking thistle
