Yesterday Girl
the sound of pen to paper
scribbling down each line
sang a prelude to a violent end
to everything that was yours and mine
I don't want to wait for you
but I still do
I loath myself for waiting for you
but I still do, still do
every message that you sent me
I deconstruct each line
looking for a ransom note
my heart has yet to find
I'm left with these frays
from the bonds that you severed
when you said you loved me
it never meant forever
I got to be queen for a day
your queen for a day
and then it all just went away
