Darling don't you fall asleep

Darling don't you fall asleep
Kill me with your crushed eyes beforehand
I don't want to be there with only a shell
Of all this shrouded life, turned limp and loose
Like the straw rope in my minds eye.

The secrets you steal away,
are so cryptic in their compassion
In the hunger for the shock of the righteous
Be careful, it has started to consume you
The threads of sanity holding
you together are thinning
Fraying with the tension of
well-hidden sadistic truths

I drift mindlessly through
this consciousness
Retching up despair,
gripping your hand as my anchor
The only thing keeping me from escape
Listening avidly for your stuttered gasps
My whole being relying
on you to live for both of us

I sing the lullaby's of fallen angels
As you slip away from me
I reach for the end as it finds me
Snapping like a frayed thread
Darling now we can sleep forever.
