no one wants to die...

an old woman sits across the street,
she looks so broken, she looks so weak,

what dos she think of,
alone on her curb?
in her own serene world,
that no one can disturb?

does she remember when she was a child?
when she was so innocent, so helpless, so mild.

now all alone she softly cries,
if only she didn't have to die.

an old woman sits across from me,
looks so tired, looks to mean.

her tattered cloths,
and weak old bones,
seem to be all that's left
of her soul.

does she remember when she was young?
so full of cunning, adventure and love.

now all alone she softly cries,
sooner of later, all of us die.

an old woman is praying next to me,
i don't want to look, but its hard not to see,

shes asking god if she'll die all alone,
but even i know that she'll be on her own.

but that's when i realize,
that's when  i see:

that dying old woman there,
is me.

so now all alone, softly i cry,
although i don't want to, i'm going to die,
yes i am afraid, but this is goodbye.
