If Nothing But You

If I start to repeat some things
Just point me in the right direction
I haven’t been myself for as long
As I’ve been breathed, and seen most of it

If I begin to speak of the end like it’s here
Keep your eyes straight on the starting line
It haunts me, where the earth drops off
An abyss I’ve always wanted to fall into

If I keep on insisting my personality isn’t my fault
Force me in front of a mirror, make me see
Blindness has always been so kind to me
But it’s been killing me like a cigarette on a rainy day

If I blot out the sunlight, as if I was a vampire
Pull the drapes open, let it burn me to ash
I can’t live forever, a clock is just a clock
And someday it’ll stop ticking for me

If I continue to hang on like a bad grudge
Think happy thoughts, and push me aside
I’ve been dreaming up nightmares for a while now
And I’m afraid of my own imagination

If I can’t find my way back to you
Pretend that I never existed there, at the heart
Mine is a bit dim, a tad grim, and a little silent
But I won’t blame you for denying more heartbreak

If I start to repeat some things
Just point me in the right direction
I haven’t been myself for as long
As I’ve been breathed, and seen nothing but you
