Coming Down

Not just a sigh
Or release
Not even the feeling of loss

Rather, it's a weight on your brain
A pressure on your temples,
It's a feeling as though
Your cheek bones are pushing up,
Up into your skull

One of your brain
Trying to squeeze out,
Out through the roof of you mouth

An erratic deafness
And a crick in the neck
A product
Of supporting your overburdened cranium

A thought dulling sensation
As though a blanket
Has been wrapped around your head
A thick woolen duvet
Leaving you with an overwhelming mind-gravy

Coming down,
What goes up must come down
It's the cost of the high
