The past tells a story,
The story of me…
Yes it may hold some value for the future.
But please…. Let it be.
Untouched it may die and the new will grow to show:
That one can surpass the past and a new person will grow.

The story of how sorrowful and tough life can be.
Like a slap to the face it hits you without warning,
Sitting there in a dark room embracing the past. Mourning.

Sitting there with a familiar dagger pressed against your heart,
Holding it close enough to hurt, but far enough that it doesn’t rip you apart.
Tragic tales of a troubled child you may think this to be.
But no.
No.
This is actually most people’s story.


Y’see, the pain summoning dagger; the one your heart knows too well
That, my friends, is the past and how it can drive you to emotional hell.
It ruins your present and can dictate your future
Yet most of us embrace it, never letting it go as if letting go will cause harm to ya.

But letting go is only half the job, might not even be half.
Because once you’ve let go, you’ll be given quite a task.
To go convince the world, yes in all its entirety:
That you, my friend, are not who you used to be.

If you don’t find success with this, then the self-harming dagger that caused painful bliss
Will become a weapon used by other folks
Especially by those who knew you the most.
The reason I say knew, not know, not present.
Is because they knew your past but do not yet know your present.

The story of me…
