Gentle Caresses

-{ Gentle Caresses }-

In gentle caresses, the cherry blossoms fall as spring unfolds,
And I walk past the youthful trees, not knowing their years…
I never know who else sees these wonders as though untold.
Will I know when my destined angel notices my fallen tears?
None can say when the season comes, for smiles to be born.
So I smile to hide my sorrow, and I look for the next miracle,
Not knowing whence it shall be, whether in dusk or the morn.
All too soon, seasons end, like wheat before a harvest sickle!
But wonders never cease, and they stay with me fading not…
For a decade I have sought, pined, and wished for some love.
But I know not love’s name, and yet I call out with thought…
Hoping to reach some maiden who is gentle as the white dove.
Can thoughts create miracles if put to words and made to fly?
Then go forth, my mind, and touch with passion’s own fires…
Some kindly girl who will not, sweet breaths of such joy deny.
Be not afraid, if you are she, to give in to your heart’s desires!
And how to know unless you tell me with smiles and sparkles,
With eyes that show me the soul that lies within, in full glory…
Eyes that can pierce the night that binds me: in lonely shackles?
Aye: and so a mortal girl has great power to dispel my worry!

In gentle caresses, the water laps upon the sands of the pond,
And I as if in dream, behold the patterns in each perfect wave.
I marvel at every flower, a work of art, formed by no wand…
And yet as sculpted as any pillar, that an artist, some life gave.
With such an eye I see many a beautiful girl as wingless angels,
And in my lonely heart, I do wish just one would speak to me.
But they pass me by on the cold street, as rings the hour bells,
And I wish they could look at me with fresh eyes, as truly see!
So much power lies in beauty, so much longing lies deep inside,
That I feel as if I shall explode with a fire that has no true form!
For passion is formless unless love shows it where it will abide.
Where is the maid who can show me, how to avert the storm?
I see the clouds gathering, and I feel the lightning in my breast!
The elementals are calling me from their holy places in the stars.
Time is fleeting, and I must find my way before I go to my rest,
I must indulge my dreams, and soothe the pains of ancient scars.
Oh angelic maiden, be my Beatrice, and show me to Paradise!
I have wandered far from the true path, and embrace the night.
But even in darkness there need not be loneliness cold as ice…
You have the power to set me free, to caress me with the light.

In gentle caresses, the wind blows upon my face and refreshes,
But I cannot see the hand of the air as I could yours dear maid.
The touch of that would refresh my spirit with heat that blesses!
Do not pass me by, but get to know me and be not so afraid…
For there is only, within me: things that your heart would adore.
Take a chance on love, and let me feel the touch, of your palm!
Do not wait for winter to hold the land in a cold bitter and sore.
Summer is nigh, and we can pass it together, content and calm!
When the blossoms fade we could cherish more perfect things,
Than exist in this mad world entire, yet which dreams can raise.
Dream with me and let us remake the world until Heaven sings,
To herald a lovers’ grand paradise, with glory, and with praise!
Gardens fade and the fallen rise to sit in their former high estate,
But all too oft we keep ourselves from ascending to happiness…
And time fools us, by making us think we have all years to wait.
Do not wait girl, but come to me clad in your most lovely dress,
And I shall place you upon a throne greater than any of Earth…
For if you grant me the gift of your heart I can move mountains!
Judge me not by mortal means, for greater by far is my worth…
And we shall waltz where flowers bedeck the glorious fountains.
