Keep it simple

Stand up; see the world from a different view,
Choose your own paths, they’re not laid out for you
Make a change; it won’t happen that fast,
But the things worth fighting for always get the last laugh,
Cause right now, people claim to be content,
But the content that creates that false sense?
It’s too shallow to provoke thought
Good thing the system runs without it,
So you live life just like you’re taught,
Follow a faith and never dare to doubt it,
See a true believer welcomes a test,
And a thought conceiver brings them the best,
Sure it takes a man to fight for his country, and takes a man to die,
But it too takes a man to voice his opinion and disprove the man that lied,
They never ask the victor if he told the truth,
Cause all eyes are set on the gold,
Now we’re hunting down people like a game of clue,
But we don’t know what the envelope holds,
So rather than wait it out, and make a reasonable deduction,
We gun them all down and to the wind throw our caution,
We fight for what we believe,
Against people doing the same thing,
What’s the difference between you and me?
I dare to question society’s placidity,
Everybody knows you go after the ball,
Cause if you wait, you’re never going to get it,
Still we let it go, blame it on a bad call,
Repetition, repetition, we get lost in it,
What the world thinks of what I say,
Doesn’t change the fact that I say it,
Either way it’s on my mind like everyday,
I got this beating heart, and I strive to sustain it
What keeps me going is what runs through my mind,
Like how all these special people go underground to hide,
You got a voice, like I do, don’t be afraid to use it,
Everybody’s got talents but some people abuse it,
The status quo keeps the rich on top,
And keeps everybody else in the same damn spot,
The more money you have, the more money you make,
If you broke, then man I hope you got what it takes,
Cause we need people to steal and sell drugs,
Our police force is full of like-minded thugs,
But instead of committing crimes, we say they save the day,
A man get’s caught with a dime, kick his ass, and then lock him away,
A man steals food for his family, cause they ain’t got enough to eat,
Well we better put his ass in jail then, let his kid’s go unfed for weeks
Oh this guy dared to be a bit different than what I like,
So I’ll pick a crime, blame it on him, and lock him away for life.
We got jails full of non-violent offenders,
We shun a man for his violet suspenders,
We claim to be democracy’s defenders,
But what we may see we come to be, is the proudest of the world enders.
