Uprising
He'd spent too long in the afterlife
to have any real impact
on the do's and don'ts governing anything moral
He made fists at the sky each sun up
cursing its lodger for every damned thing.
knelt in solemn prayer
thankful for whatever judgment
led to withholding the rains
from the famished lands
He'd always believed them lands
to be the womb of all evil
the epicenter of the Fairy virus
we saw him when he crawled home
from some dark speakeasy
after he'd had his fill of mob liquor
and been out on the fairy trail
pointing his vile tongue at any and all
who showed traits of 'lesser men'
"The fiery lakes of hell are lapping around our feet
ready to drown us all for the sins of the faeries"
He saw no danger at all in sending
his dogs into the village
but given the way the wind was blowing
you'd think he would have had some idea
of the ill feeling among the faeries
who had taken to hiding in the underground
we'd saw him again in the aftermath
looking on with contempt out on the periphery
while the first great festival of
fairy emancipation marched on-wards
down parade street.
(apologies for the mess folks, working on cleaning it up)
